Frome Sunday Development XI ended the season on a high, securing a 16 run win against Brislington, to be the Three Counties Sunday League champions.

The culmination of a season of testing cricket, saw Frome Cricket Club Sunday Side crowned champions

After Brislington won the toss and inserted Frome at Bath, Sam Croker and Dan Dredge ensured that a positive start was made.

Both batsmen found the boundary regularly, and both hit maximums down the ground, taking the score onto 68.

Dredge was the first to fall though, when he edged to slip for 38. The innings proved pivotal in the context of the match though, with it being the top score.

The team collapsed to 72-4 though, as Joe Smart and Ryan Gullock were trapped leg before without scoring to Mogoera, who was getting some spin out of the pitch.

Croker was then bowled by Mogoera (3-21), but James Unwin stopped the rot. Charlie Smith added 8, but Unwin and Watts took the score on 125.

Unwin the next to fall though, pinned LBW to Thomas for 26 (2 fours and a six). Watts also batted nicely, hitting 29, but fell with the score on 158.

Robin Lett hit a four and a six to reach 23, but holed out off M Henley. Henley (3-21) then wrapped up the innings, with Aaron Woodruff (5) and Matthew Knight (2) departing.

Naveed Asim was unbeaten on 2, as Frome were all out for 174 in the 38th over.

In reply, opening bowlers Asim and Knight kept the run rate down, bowling nine overs for just 21 runs.

The breakthrough came in the tenth over though, when Woodruff had Wright brilliantly caught by a diving Gullock for 8.

The introduction of the skipper saw an incredible spell of wickets. First, Lett saw Ayres hole out to Dan Dredge, before he bowled the set Mogoera (19), in a double-wicket maiden.

In his next two overs, he removed both N and M Henley, one of which was courtesy of a superb catch at slip by Croker. And along with another scalp for Woodruff, caught by Watts at mid-on, Brislington fell to 68-6.

Brislington rebuilt though, adding 31 for the seventh wicket. It was the impressive Asim(1-19) that claimed a deserved wicket, comprehensively bowling I Thomas for 14.

Frome from then on were always in control. Knight (1-35) claimed the wicket of Grove (29), who was looking to launch one last assault for the win, but Woodruff (2-43) along with Knight ensured that they wouldn't reach the victory target .

George was unbeaten on a valiant 26 for Brislington, but they fell to a 16 run defeat on 158-8, meaning that Frome Sunday Development XI became the Three Counties Sunday League Champions.

It was a terrific way to end the season for Frome, adding some gloss to a season of mixed fortunes.

Thanks to all those who have supported the team at Bath yesterday, and anyone who came to watch games during the season, it's certainly much appreciated.
