Frome 2nd XI travelled the short distance to Cranmore on Saturday in the Somerset Cricket League Division 4.
Batting first Cranmore started cautiously as Frome opening bowlers Watts and Bracher bowled a tight line restricting the opening batsmen's scoring oppourtunities which paid off when Watts bowled Ford early on, Bracher followed this up by catching A Pang off his own bowling. This brought J Williams and M Pang to the crease who instantly upped the scoring rate for the hosts. Things could have been a whole lot better for Frome but a series of dropped catches and poor fielding let the Cranmore batsmen off the hook. M Pang was finally dismissed for 67 and a further couple of wickets were taken. Williams ending on 53 not out as Cranmore finished on 164-5 from their allocated 45 overs. Watts endind with 2 wickets, while Bracher and Woodruff picked up a wicket apiece.
After tea, Frome took up the chase with Leonard and Gullock scoring fluently to get Frome ahead of the required rate before Leonard was dismissed for 27, wickets tumbled regularly but Gullock remained constant throughout the innings finishing on 67 not out as Frome comfortably reached the target in the 42nd over to gain victory by 4 wickets. Cranmore wicket takers were Williams with 3, A Pang with 2 and Ford with 1.
