Leonard and Gullock set up crucial win for Frome
After mopping up the ground following Friday night’s heavy rain Frome were able to play where most of the area’s cricket was washed out.
After winning the toss and Curry Rivel had no hesitation in asking Frome to bat first on a damp wicket, openers Leonard and Gullock started cautiously while dispatching the bad ball to the boundary. Leonard soon got into his stride and regularly found the boundary racing to a half century before being dismissed for 64. Unwin then took up the charge as overs ticked by sweeping viciously to the boundary for a quick 26 while Gullock batted sensibly at the other end before being dismissed for 46. Frome ended their innings on 186-9 from their 45 overs.
After tea Frome came out intent in pushing for victory before the inevitable rain arrived with Watts and Bracher bowling well at the start followed by C Dredge, Edwards and Wodruff, with wickets falling regularly Curry Rivel were dismissed for 125 in the final over just as the rain started to fall. Bracher finished with 4-21, C Dredge 3-33 and Edwards and Woodruff with 1 wicket apiece.
With all other games in the Somerset Cricket League Division 4 cancelled this win propelled Frome up to table to 3rd place.at 2pm.
