Frome's 2nd team came away triumphant against Curry Rivel after an innings of attrition followed by controlled bowling saw the hosts collapse to a 154 defeat- Frome leapfrogging them in the table.

After winning the toss and batting first on a very warm day, Frome chose to bat first and made good progress- aided by the 26 wides in this innings.
Tim Leonard and Bob Lowe carried the score onto 29 before the latter was caught behind for 5. Leonard then played one shot too many as he was bowled for a quickfire 30 off 20 with the score on 50. Skipper Ryan Gullock fell for 13 before Joe Smart and Mark Harman followed for scores of 3 and 6. Simon Edwards offered some support for Mark Watts who was acting as the anchor for the innings. Edwards, however was caught for 29 with the score on 137- ending a partnership of 40. Watts then played on to his stumps for a steady 40 before Mat Bracher was Frome's eighth man out when he was bowled for 10 with the score on 175. However, Clive Copp and Aaron Woodruff made sure that Frome used all of their overs and batted sensibly, carrying the score onto 226 for 8 by the end of the 45 overs. The unbeaten partnership of 51 ensured maximum batting points as the experienced Copp finished not out on 32 and Woodruff not out on 22.

In the field, Frome always looked likely to come out victorious. Mark Watts removed G Parks (0) and claimed the big wicket of skipper P Higginson (17)who looked in good touch. Other opening bowler Mat Bracher claimed the scalp of F Glover as he claimed figures of 1-29 of 9 overs. Watts had another victim, making his figures 2-13 off 7. Simon Edwards claimed 3 wickets and along with Mark Harman's 2, Frome were nearly there. Arthur Harman picked up the final wicket as Curry Rivel were all out for 72, giving Frome a maximum point victory (35) as they won by 154 runs.

Next Saturday, the second team are on the road again as they travel to Fitzhead.
