Josh Cantrell and Mark Dredge compiled an astonishing double-hundred opening partnership to lead Frome 2nd's to a maximum point win.

Frome made a superb start batting first on a mild day at Fromefield. Josh Cantrell and Mark Dredge looked composed, playing their shots nicely and scoring at a positive rate.

The two batsmen soon bought up the hosts hundred, whilst they both passing their fifty milestones respectively.

From there onwards, Frome tucked into some average bowling from the some of Wembdon's bowlers.

Dredge was put down at long-off, whilst Cantrell had a few close shaves- most notably a poor drop at deep-mid wicket in the eighties. However, that luck was earnt by these two. Dredge's ton was first to be brought up, before very soon after, Cantrell's first ever hundred came.

The two batsmen both finally fell for 102 apiece, before Frome lost a few more wickets. Those of Lee Dredge (3), James Unwin (7) and Craig Dredge saw the visitors at least make the score more respectable by collecting some bowling points.

The innings stalled somewhat late on, but the not out batsmen were James Mawson (6) and Mat Bracher (5) which saw Frome conclude their 45 overs on 251-5.

In reply, the Wembdon batsmen looked to be positive. However, despite that the opening bowlers of Aaron Woodruff and Bracher (1-34) plugged away, before the latter picked up the first wicket caught by Arthur Harman in the covers.

Then, the introduction of Harman saw further wickets fall- a stunning one handed catch from Craig Dredge attained a key wicket for the Showmen.

At the other end, Daniel Weston was bowling his leg-spin superbly. It was economical stuff, which was ultimately rewarded with him claiming his first wickets for Frome 2nd XI. Nine overs straight through from Weston (2-24) stemmed the flow of runs.

Skipper Craig Dredge bowled excellently too, claiming 2-8- with another fantastic catch from Frome in the field; Mark Dredge diving away in the covers was one to remember.

Woodruff (1-29) returned to pick up a wicket, whilst Harman picked up a couple more himself to end up with 4-48. Unwin held a great catch diving to his left at mid-off from Harman's bowling, of which was his third catch of the day

Wembdon were resultantly all out for 152, giving Frome a 99 run victory.

The visitors collected 12 points overall (five bowling and seven batting), whilst Frome collected the maximum 35 points from the win.
