Frome 2nd XI took 26 points away from a rain affected match at Kilve, of which ended in a draw.

The two captains conducted the toss on time, with Frome skipper Mark Harman victorious and electing to bowl first. A delayed start occurred when rain fell though before play did begin.

Just two overs were bowled though before rain set in for some time. Over an hour and a half was spent off the field as the rain fell, by which time tea had been taken. The delay meant 23 overs were lost from the game.

The hosts could bat their 45 overs if they wished, but with just 67 overs now in the day, there was prospect for them to get a strong score on the board, before declaring.

However, Frome ensured that they attained control of the match by bowling Kilve out for 160 in the 39th over. Mark Harman claimed 6-16 in 9 overs, another class spell of bowling from the former Somerset and Kent player.

Also amongst the wickets were Naveed Asim (1-48) and Mat Bracher (1-28), whilst Zubi Ali claimed a couple of scalps. Opener T Lott top-scored for Kilve, whilst W Monro added 34.

In response, in 28 overs, Frome needed 161 to win whilst Kilve needed 10 wickets. If neither of these were to be accomplished, the match would end in a draw.

And that was what did happen. Tim Leonard (16 from 19 balls) got the reply off to a fast start with three fours in the first three overs, but when he and Josh Cantrell (3) were out in the same S James (3-19) over, along with James Unwin in his next- Frome were 25-3.

By then, Frome opted to shut up shop and block out for a draw. Bracher (8 from 38 balls) used up some balls for Frome, before he edged behind off R Penwell.

Lee Dredge was continuing to play his stokes though, of which to good effect. He played some fantastic pull shots before falling for 37 from 42 balls, before being caught off T Lott's bowling.

Clive Copp (6 from 30 deliveries) and Mark Harman (14 from 26) took the match to its' close after 28 overs. Frome took 26 points away from the match whilst the hosts, Kilve, claimed 25.

Next week, Frome 2nd XI play host to South Petherton at Fromefield.
