Robin Lett smashed an unbeaten 56 with five sixes to get Frome across the line in a thrilling run chase against Bath.

After Bath chose to bat first, some testing bowling from Matt Knight (0-25) and Nav Asim was applied. It was Asim that made the early inroads, claiming 3-25 off eight overs in a superb spell of bowling.

One of Asim's wickets was well caught behind by Dan Dredge, who was soon in action again to claim a stumping for Harman.

Arthur Harman's off-spin was tricky to face (2-33), and it pegged the visitors back to 62-5.

24 were added for the sixth wicket, before Harman deflected the ball onto the stumps from a powerful shot down the ground- leaving Lacey (11) out of his ground at the non-strikers end.

Then, after Ethan Cox (1-21) hit the top of off stump with a sharp delivery, Bath were 103-7.

The eighth wicket proved difficult to come by however, as the Bath steadily accumulated a competitive score. After a dropped catch, James, along with Dean were playing some nice shots for the visitors.

However, they lost wickets in the latter stages which halted progress. Woodruff (2-34) claimed a couple of wickets, including James for 31, whilst a direct hit in the field from Mark Dredge ensured that Bath were all out.

Dean was left not out on 49 for Bath, as the visitors were dismissed with five deliveries remaining, for 189.

Frome in response were cautious in the opening overs, but lost Woodruff (2) and Harman (0) early on.

Mark Dredge and Knight added 53 for the third wicket though, before the latter found mid-off to depart for 17.

This was followed by the departure of Dredge, for a well-compiled 40, just before drinks. Frome were 75-4.

Despite the fall of Dan Dredge (8) and Mark Watts (7)- James Unwin's 21 was very useful for the hosts.

And even though Frome were 128-8 when Asim (1) was caught, Robin Lett and Dan Weston put on 64 runs for the ninth wicket to see Frome home.

It looked an unlikely task with 48 runs required for victory with just three overs remaining, but Lett unleashed an onslought to take the penultimate over for 27 runs and swing the match in favour of the hosts.

Along with intelligent batting from Weston (8 not out), Lett got the Showmen across the line when he cut the ball for four with three deliveries to spare.

There were two wickets apiece for Cadywould (2-28), James (2-19) and Lacey (2-30)- but it wasn't enough to leave Fromefield victorious.

The two wicket victory gets Frome Sunday Development XI off the mark in the Three Counties Sunday League.

Next Sunday, they welcome Biddestone to Fromefield looking to build on this win.
