Frome Sunday Development XI secured another victory on Sunday, after 57 from Sam Croker, and 122 retired from onfield coach, Robin Lett.

After choosing to bat first, Robin Lett and Sam Croker amounted a massive 165 opening stand.

Lett scored quickly whilst Croker ably supported him. After batting for over an hour and a half though, Lett retired on 122. It was a fantastic innings, which was full of classy cricket strokes, and included 15 fours and a brace a of maximums.

Meanwhile, Croker was constructing a lovely knock. The patient innings accumulated 57 runs, and though it didn't include any boundaries- it highlighted good running between the wickets and rotation of strike.

Joe Smart could only muster 4, whilst Naveed Asim hit 11. But Josh Cantrell batted pleasantly for an unbeaten 36, and along with Paddy Hyams (9 not out), they saw Frome to the close of the 40 overs. 247-3 was a good score on a large cricket field.

C Strachan yielded 2-64 for the home side, in an innings that saw batsmen grind out scores on a pitch with some uneven bounce.

In reply, Frome were always in control as the run rate was kept in check.

Aaron Woodruff claimed the first wicket, well caught by Matt Knight at mid-wicket. And despite 84 runs being added for the second wicket, Frome were never really under-threat of defeat; Asim bowled particularly well with four overs for just four runs.

Daniel Weston got the next wicket for the Showmen, when Mark Watts caught a catch at backward point from a reverse sweep, at the second time of asking. A Lee did bat well for 42.

R Fairbrother's innings came to an end with the score on 118, as he was castled by Watts for 58. This was soon followed by a deserved wicket for Arthur Harman, of which was gleefully caught by Weston, diving forward to hold a stunner.

Weston (2-39) secured another wicket with a skied ball to Woodruff at mid-off, before Knight (2-31) returned to claim a couple scalps- with catches from Smart in the covers and Hyams keeping wicket.

The home side ultimately managed to bolster their total to 206-7, of which fell 41 runs short of Frome's total.

Next week, Frome Sunday XI travel to play Brislington.
