After Robin Lett smashed an unbeaten 135 with 10 sixes, young bowlers Matthew Knight, Arthur Harman and Ethan Cox impressed to earn another victory.

After choosing to bowl first, Frome Sunday XI made a poor start when Mark Watts was trapped in front without scoring.

Jim Unwin added 38 with Dan Dredge, but after Unwin launched a six in his knock, he found mid-off from A Jacques (1-62) when on 11.

74 runs came in a third wicket partnership when Joe Smart came to the crease, and the two were seemed to be competing over the distance of their straight sixes down the ground.

On 114 though, Smart hauled out for 28, of which was followed by Aaron Woodruff for a two ball duck- making it 114-4.

Arthur Harman (5) became the third victim of L Boulton (3-26) when he offered a catch, and proceeding this, Dredge was stumped for an impressive 66 (9 fours and 3 sixes). Now the Showmen were 124-6.

Skipper Robin Lett put on 40 for the seventh wicket with Matt Knight, but Knight offered a return catch to S Galardo (1-54) to depart.

Naveed Asim looked scored six, whilst Shane Ford stuck with Lett well as Frome began to pile on the runs. The former Somerset County man struck 8 fours and launched 10 sixes in a stunning knock, 135 runs which put a dropped catch from the hosts to the sword.

And even though Ford (0) departed late on, Frome amounted 290-9 from their 40 overs.

Almost straight after the players went for tea, the rain came lashing down in Biddestone. After it relented though, play could resume and the match scenario read 234 for Biddestone to win from 32 overs.

Frome made a superb start though as Asim and Knight served up some testing stuff. The former was very unlucky not to take a wicket.

Knight however was yielding plenty of wickets, and thanks to good catches from Unwin at point, Dredge at slip, Harman at mid-off, along with a bowled dismissal- he earned figures of 4-29 from six overs.

Harman's (2-22) off-spin was also difficult to handle, and he picked up the very valuable wicket of A Andrews for 41 when he found Watts at deep-square leg.

Watts also produced a fantastic piece of fielding. After a fumble on the leg-side, he recovered to launch a direct hit to run out the batsmen.

The final wickets went to Ethan Cox, whom bowled very nicely, claiming 2-6. Woodruff also picked up a scalp, of which was excellently held by Ford.

This ultimately saw Biddestone bowled out for 95, and gave Frome a winning margin of 139 runs in the rain-affected encounter.

Next week, Frome Sunday Development XI travel to play Bishopston, where play begins at 1:30pm.
