Frome experienced a disappointing loss after a promising start to the season. Wellington elected to bat first and started well with an opening stand of 52. N Dredge (3-42) made the first breakthrough for Frome and was supported by economical bowling from Watts (3-27). Wickets were also gained by M Sanger (2-3) and R Croker (2-27) which ended Wellington’s innings on 132.
Frome’s pursuit started poorly as the early wickets of Smith (0), S Croker (4) and Unwin (0) fell with the score tally at just 10 runs. Frome did not recover from their unfortunate start although P Sanger battled hard for a total of 14 runs. Frome eventually were skittled out for 55 runs and gained a mediocre 5 points from their away trip.
Frome remain positive for next week’s home game against Wembdon 1st XI (12:30pm start).
