First XI Finish Pre-season in Style

Frome finished their pre season preparations with a convincing 97 run victory over Warminster.

Warminster won the toss and put the hosts into bat In very tricky conditions. Frome started slowly after some tight bowling, leaving the home side 57-3. This brought Reece Croker and Gullock to the crease who together batter superbly with hard running and lusty blows to rebuild the innings. Both Croker (52) and Gullock (56) made half centuries in their 105 partnership.

A late cameo from Smart (19) including a dil-scoop, helped from get to 210 from their 45 overs, which was always going to be a competitive score considering the conditions.

In reply Warminster started well with an opening partnership of 43 between Parry and Berrisford, however when Reece Croker removed Parry (19) it created a collapse and Warminster fell to 98-7. Mark Watts (3-6) and Neil Dredge (4-9) were the pick of the bowlers, bowling consistent line and lengths. Dredge picked up the final wicket to give Frome a successful end to their pre season.

Frome travel to Yeovil next week looking to get their 2019 league campaign off to a winning start.
